Tax Compliance: A Foundation for Sustainable Institutional Capacity in Higher Education

At SICDA, our mission is to foster sustainable capacity development through collaborative learning and equitable partnerships. While much of our work focuses on academic leadership and research policy, we recognize that the long-term vitality of any higher education institution rests on a foundation of robust governance. In an increasingly globalized academic landscape, maintaining rigorous Tax Compliance is not merely a bureaucratic requirement; it is a strategic necessity for institutions striving to thrive independently and attract international cooperation.

Capacity development goes beyond the classroom; it encompasses the "back-office" systems that allow a university to operate with integrity. For institutions in developing contexts, establishing clear protocols for Tax Compliance signals to governments, international donors, and partner universities that the institution is a reliable steward of resources. By integrating fiscal accountability into the institutional framework, universities can better manage the complex financial requirements of cross-border research grants and co-designed programs.
